In the late 1990s, the factory partnered with several other manufacturers to produce Fiesta® Accessories, many of which can be seen on this page. When an outside company wanted to make an accessory, it had to be presented to the factory. This gave the pottery the opportunity to make the piece.
In 1997, Copco proposed a special tray with a trivet. Copco sent a prototype wooden tray in the shape of a disc pitcher to see if the factory could make an insert. On April 8, 1997, the dancing lady trivet was made for the tray. However, the factory passed on making the special trivets, which allowed Copco to have inserts made in China for the wooden trays.

In 2001, the factory decided to add the dancing lady trivet to the Fiesta® line. The prototype version from 1997 was rather flat so it could fit the tray. A new tool to form the back was created so the trivet could have a foot. It was given the item number 443 and was made until it was replaced by the large trivet in 2025.
Both sizes of trivets can be found with underglaze backstamps.
